Privacy Policy

KinHub (“we”, “us”) is a family meal-planning app: browse and create recipes, plan meals on a weekly calendar, build a shared shopping list, and share it all within your family. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. It applies to the KinHub mobile app and the kinhub.co.uk website.

Information we collect

• Account details — your name and email address, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google.
• Profile & family content — your profile photo; the recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, favourites and comments you create; and the names and optional photos of children you add. Child profiles are managed by adults and have no login.
• Photos you provide — images you take or upload for recipes or profiles, and photos you submit to the “recipe from a photo” feature.
• Notification token — if you enable meal reminders, a push notification token for your device so we can send you reminders.
• Basic technical data — standard request information (e.g. IP address) processed by our hosting provider to operate and secure the service.

How we use your information

• To provide the app: your account, recipes, meal plans and shopping lists, shared with the members of your family.
• To send the meal reminders you opt into.
• To turn a photo or a web/social link into a recipe draft (see “AI features” below).
• To keep the service secure and to fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

AI features

When you use “recipe from a photo” or import a recipe from a link, the image or page content is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to extract the recipe. This content is processed to return your result and is not used to train AI models. These features are optional — the rest of the app works without them.

Calendar

If you add your meal plan to your calendar, KinHub writes events to the calendar you choose on your own device. We do not collect or store your calendar.

Service providers we share data with

• Cloudflare — hosting, database and image storage.
• Google — sign-in (if you choose it) and push-notification delivery.
• Expo — app delivery and push-notification tokens.
• Anthropic — the optional AI recipe features described above.

These providers process data only to provide their service to us.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete my account. This permanently removes your account; if you are the last member of your family, your family’s recipes, meal plans and shopping lists are deleted too. You can also email us to request deletion.

Security

Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes, and data is transmitted over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

KinHub is intended for adults organising their household. “Child” profiles are simply names (and optional photos) added by an adult to share meal plans with — they have no login and cannot create accounts. The app is not directed at children to create their own accounts.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Contact us and we’ll help.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; we’ll change the “last updated” date above.
